Pines are evergreen tree, growing 3-80m tall with long, needle shaped leaves typically reach ages of 100-1,000 years or even more. In the distribution of pines tree, most parts of the northern hemisphere have some native species of pines. Then various species have been introduced to temperate and subtropical regions of the two hemispheres, where they grown wood or plant as ornamental plants in parks and gardens.

In recent years, the timber industry is concerned by more and more people.A large amount of pine sawdust are produced every year. And, planing and processing of pine trees will lead to more residues. A factory produces about 600 pounds of dry residue per thousand board feet. Then, how to deal with these large numbers of residues produced by pine?

With the urgent need of energy consumption, the bio energy system is expected to proceed at a faster pace and lower investment level. Therefore, bio energy has become the second largest commercial renewable energy source in the world now. Due to the low cost and high reliability, biomass fuels are getting more and more attention. Biomass residue pellets are developed rapidly and are frequently used for heating purposes. Thus, these cleaning and drying of pine slag can be converted to another ideal pellet burning fuel, they can be applied in the fireplace, pellet furnace, wood pellet boiler, etc.
